4 DAY MOUNT MERU TREKKING
A 4-day trek up Mount Meru typically follows an itinerary that allows for proper acclimatization and a comfortable pace. Here’s a rough breakdown of what you might expect during each day of the trek:
Day 1: Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut
- Start at the Momela Gate, where registration and payments are made.
- Begin the trek through montane forest, often encountering wildlife like colobus monkeys and various bird species.
- Arrive at Miriakamba Hut (at around 2,514 meters or 8,250 feet) for overnight stay.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
- Ascend through the heath and moorland zone, passing the “Fig Tree Arch” and enjoying scenic views of the surrounding landscapes.
- Arrive at Saddle Hut (at around 3,570 meters or 11,712 feet), situated between Little Meru and Meru Peak, for overnight stay.
Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit and back to Miriakamba Hut
